Tip of the Week

Attending an interview can be both stressful and exciting. However, interviewing for laboratory jobs is much easier if you invest time in preparation. Here’s a quick checklist for interview success:

1. Research the organization, and determine how your qualifications fit

2. Have a friend or family member give you mock interviews

3. Visualize yourself attending the laboratory job interview, with a positive outcome

4. Take a “test drive” to the interview location

5. Make sure you get a good night of sleep before the interview

6. Wear a conservative suit: gray, dark blue or black

7. Print out extra copies of your resume

8. Make a list of questions for the hiring manager

9. If you know someone who works for the organization, ask about the hiring manager’s needs for a laboratory employee

10. Print out a few letters of recommendations
