If you're considering a degree in chemistry, it helps to understand more about the jobs available for each education level. Degrees in chemistry are available, starting with a 2-year program up to the Ph.D. level. Read on to learn more about chemistry degree options.

Associates Degree in Chemistry. If you aren't up for several years of school, earning an Associate's degree will get your foot in the door at many laboratories. However, to advance your career, you'll need to earn a bachelor's degree or higher.

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. With a bachelor's degree, you can typically get jobs preparing chemicals, working in fields like biotech, pharmaceuticals and working with medical devices. When looking for these chemistry jobs, ask about continuing education opportunities, which can open up more doors for the future.

Master's degree or higher. This level of education will often qualify you to work in a research capacity, and open up more chemist job opportunities then other degrees.
