Consider your experience level. According to PayScale.com, clinical laboratory technologist can expect to earn $18.92-$19.49 an hour during their first 5 years of employment.
Adjust the salary for your geographic location. For example, if you live in New York , you can expect to earn $28.00 an hour, however, in the Chicago market, pay decreases to $22.00 per hour. Determine your local salary range by contacting human resources departments at local companies.
Consider the industry. Companies that have 600 – 50,000 employees tend to pay higher wages; $24.00 or higher. Also, certain sectors pay higher wages, like pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
